Wrongful Termination

In Oklahoma, an employment may be terminated "at will". That is, either the employee or the employer has the right to cancel the employment relationship at any time for any reason or for no reason at all. However, in certain exceptions an employer can violate Oklahoma law. For example, employers may not illegally discriminate against or fire an employee for pursuing a worker's compensation claim. Note that an employee who was wrongfully terminated should still try to find work elsewhere. A wrongfully discharged employee has a duty to take steps to make reasonable effort to find comparable employment and to minimize damages.
